The new look Albany Motors
Photo by Wally Wightman - One of Earlsdon's most established businesses has undergone a name change. Chandos Motors which moved from Leamington Spa to its present site in Albany Road in 1976, will be known as Albany Motors.
- The family business, founded by John Shorney, has strong ties with Earlsdon. John's mother and father were born in Westwood Road and Sovereign Road respectively but were evacuated when a bomb blast from Hearsall Common blew out the windows of their home.
- For a number of years, John lived with his own young family in Shaftsbury Road. He and his wife Kath, son David and daughter Catherina, all work at the Albany Road garage.
- The garage has gone a number of changes in 27 years. In 1991 the petrol pumps were taken out so more space could be provided to create a showroom for customers to view an increased stock of vehicles. The latest change is the new name to Albany Motors.
- Albany Motors stock a range of affordable second‑hand cars, all of which have a pre‑sale service by their own engineers. The garage also offers vehicle service and maintenance to the general public. For more information telephone John or David on 7671 3287.
